NXT 26

August 17, 2010 – Bakersfield, California

Two people will be eliminated tonight. The rookies come out to cut promos, but who cares. The first elimination will be right now, and it’s Percy Watson who gets cut.

Zack Ryder def. Michael McGililcutty
Michael Cole craps on Matt Striker a bit, which is a lot more palatable than crapping on the rookies. This was fine, just fine. **¼

Kaval def. Husky Harris
I was about to call this a rubber match but Kaval hasn’t beaten Harris yet. Seems like Harris has a crush on Michelle McCool and Layla might have a crush on Kaval. It’s a little late in the season to start storylines, y’all. This got a little hinky in the final stretch, but overall it was pretty compelling and got the crowd more engaged than your typical NXT match. **½

Kofi Kingston def. Alex Riley
Daniel Bryan returned to WWE at SummerSlam, so Riley and the Miz attacked him on Raw last night. Riley gets a little offense in here, but Kingston beats him in just a few minutes. *¾

Cole and Josh Matthews both say that Kaval should be eliminated because he’s an internet creation, and Riley should win. Why are there two heel announcers and why just rehash the same deal from season 1? Anyway, Harris gets eliminated. Everyone fights after the elimination in a segment that makes it feel like nobody is given any instruction about what to do or say.
