NXT 25

August 10, 2010 – San Jose, California

The NXT Challenge tonight will be a punch power contest. The commentators test is out before the show, and Josh Matthews does better than Michael Cole, who is dressed as the Miz. The game is shown to be rigged when the bag moves away before Husky Harris’s punch. Alex Riley wins the contest and gets to be on Raw next week.

Kaval, Lucky Cannon & Percy Watson def. Husky Harris, Alex Riley & Michael McGillicutty
There are too many babyfaces to do even teams. The first half of this match was boring, but everything from Cannon’s plancha onto Riley was pretty fun. I’ll split the difference. **½

The Miz def. John Morrison
This has something to do with the SummerSlam main event, in which the Nexus outnumbers Team WWE and there’s a question as to whether Morrison wants to let Miz join the team. This was the best match they’ve had on this show to date, but it involved two pros so it sort of defeats the purpose. It could have been even better had Morrison not gotten a little sloppy down the stretch. Cole says the quiet part out loud, “I’m not sure what this match accomplished.” ***¼

The latest NXT Pole is out:

  1. Kaval
  2. Michael McGillicutty
  3. Percy Watson
  4. Husky Harris
  5. Alex Riley
  6. Lucky Cannon

So Cannon is gone. He references Half Baked and then trots out insults for all the rookies that other guys have made before. So good riddance, I guess.
