June 17, 2021 – Newham, London
It feels like they’re back on snooze after last week’s main event banger. Another mixed tag main event? Blech. Give me some direction for the NXT UK Championship because I want to quit.
Wolfgang def. Sam Gradwell
These two bottles of mayonnaise are not going to get me psyched for the show. That said, I’ve endured more boring matches from both guys, so credit where it’s due they put in the effort here. It wasn’t much more than a six-minute special, but those six minutes went by fast. Wolfgang hit a Buckshot Spear (I’m sure he’ll have his own name for it soon) for the win at 6:15. **¾
All the ladies in NXT and NXT UK want to fight Meiko Satomura for her title. Pretty Deadly lets tonight’s main eventers that they’ll be doing commentary for the match. Later, Joe Coffey, Rampage Brown, and Ilja Dragunov have a roundtable discussion. They have a triple threat coming up that’s not a contender match because this show mostly sucks lately. The three of them are cordial but promise to be very violent. At least the match should probably be good, but I’ve already forgotten how Dragunov got sucked into this angle. After that, Mark Coffey antagonizes Sha Samuels at the Performance Center. Later, we learn that Teoman will fight Oliver Carter next week.
Kenny Williams def. Danny Jones
Williams is clean shaven now. Williams totally squashes Jones, which is good because he needed that kind of win and a lot of these jobbers have been getting in a lot of offense around these parts. Williams hit Bad Luck for the win at 4:14. N/A
Jordan Devlin is the guest on the Supernova Sessions. Noam Dar has cut his hair, the bastard. He says that Devlin was robbed of the Cruiserweight Championship. Devlin laments that he lost in a ladder match to a guy with goons in his employ. He challenges the whole roster to take a shot at him. Dar shills his t-shirt. This was fun as always. Later, A-Kid is in Devlin’s private dressing room. They argue a bit and then Devlin goes looking for Sid Scala.
In the Performance Center, Tyler Bate offers Jack Starz a shot at the Heritage Cup because he’s impressed with his training. Starz doesn’t feel ready. Dave Mastiff tells him rejecting the offer is a mistake. Why did they skip the segment where we learned that all these guys are friends?
Benjamin Frazer def. Rohan Raja
This was much more a showcase of Frazer than it was of Raja, but you could have guessed it was going to be. This was the same quality as the opener, but faster and a bit more one-sided. Frazer hit a frog splash for the win at 6:50. After the match, Teoman’s evil eye shows up on the big screen. **¾
Flash Morgan Webster & Danny Luna def. Jinny & Joseph Conners
I liked this much more than I was prepared to. It didn’t overstay its welcome, everyone got their stuff in quickly and efficiently, and Luna looked like a beast. That’s all you can really ask for out of a mixed tag match like this. Webster hit Conners with a 450 Splash for the win at 8:11 after Luna had hit Conners with a powerbomb. After the match, the tag champs stare down Subculture and tease a tag title match. I would like to see that tag title match. ***
