NXT UK 150

May 27, 2021 – Newham, London

They should definitely stop calling this the fastest growing brand when they’re significantly smaller than they were when it began.

Nelson Frazer def. Sha Samuels
Frazer works well as a bump machine, but I do wish he’d been allowed a bit more offense here. Samuels’ ferocity is impressive, but things slowed way down after five minutes of it, especially as he wasn’t going for pins very often. Noam Dar gets booted from ringside near the end and that leads to Frazer taking control and eventually hitting a Frog Splash for the win at 9:06. **¾

Two weeks ago, Joseph Conners and Jinny sarcastically clapped for Dani Luna backstage. Flash Morgan Webster confronted them, so now we’ll get him vs. Conners at some point. Then, Dar flips out that he got banned from ringside. His match against Ilja Dragunov will be next week. Sick. Dragunov talks about the match too, saying the word truth too many times.

Teoman def. Ashton Smith
I was very ho hum about watching this during their entrances. Neither guy has impressed me in a singles match. But they worked hard and beat each other up pretty dern good here. Teoman put on the crossface for the win at 6:39. Teoman attacks Smith after the match but Oliver Carter makes the save. ***

Pretty Deadly teases Jack Starz because Starz misses Piper Niven. He wants to fight them, but they want him to earn a shot at them and find a friend. Kay Lee Ray vs. Meiko Satomura will happen in two weeks. The video package for the match is pretty neat. We get a dramatic video about Joe Coffey vs. Rampage Brown, which is happening next week.

Kenny Williams def. Andy Wild
Wild is big so Williams cheats a bit and fights aggressively. Wild looked pretty good actually. His look is lame, but he seems to be a solid thick boy. Williams hits the same finisher LA Knight is using for the win at 4:04. N/A

Trent Seven def. Sam Gradwell
This is set to be fifteen minutes of Gradwell, which is a lot for me. Most of the match is (very solid) big shots being traded. At the end they tried to shoehorn in a more layered story, with Gradwell screaming as his odds of winning disappeared, “I was here too,” referring to being in NXT UK at the beginning. It wasn’t much, but it was something to make me remember the match more than a day after I’ve watched it. Seven hit the Birminghammer for the win at 14:07. ***¼
