EC3 def. Bobby Fish
When EC3 gets a little carried away during the match, the referee says, “Get him out of the corner, 3!” I love him so much for that. This was psychologically sound, with EC3 controlling with his strength and Fish only getting the upper hand when attacking the injured knee or when the rest of the Undisputed Era got involved. Sadly, that’s about all it was because there wasn’t a lot of chemistry here and the crowd wasn’t into it at all. EC3 caught Fish with a roll up to win the thing. The Era attacks after the bell, but Heavy Machinery makes the save. **¼

Earlier today, Dakota Kai and Io Shirai challenged Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shaffir to a tag match next week. Later on, Duke and Shaffir laugh rather than cut a promo back on

Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch def. Shane Thorne & Nick Miller
This is a rematch from the episode in San Jose, but I actually forgot about that match because the Mighty leave no lasting impressions. This was shorter and more concise than that match. It was filled with cool stuff from both teams (something missing from the Mighty side last time around), though it was pretty awkward in the middle. **¾

Johnny Gargano is ready to close the book on Amsterdam Black. Black is going to annihilate Gargano and make him fade to black.

Mia Yim def. Reina Gonzalez
Lacey Evans beat Xia Li at a house show over the weekend to become the second competitor in the upcoming four-way number one contender’s match. Yim’s win here gets her in the match as well. They seem to be trying to push Gonzalez as a Stan Hansen type, but she feels a bit more like an under-confident Kassius Ohno type. This was perfectly fine, just fine, though maybe a little poorly executed and less than fine in a few moments. **¼

Ricochet def. Tyler Breeze {NXT North American Championship Match}
Breeze is answering Ricochet’s open challenge in his first NXT match in three years. I also think this is the first time a main roster wrestler has worked NXT since Neville faced Finn Balor in March, 2016. The finish here – escalating kicks leading to Ricochet hitting a package Michinoku Driver – was very NJPW’esque. The rest of the match worked really well in fits and starts, and it was very cool to see Breeze back in NXT. There’s not really room on the NXT roster for main roster guys who don’t have anything to do, but if they can figure out how to incorporate a few interesting ones like Breeze then I wouldn’t be mad at it. ***½

Because the Cruiserweight Championship is now an NXT title I’m reviewing every title defense of the WWE/NXT Cruiserweight Championship and posting them on the NXT TV reviews that preceded them. Here’s the title defense from TLC 2018.

Buddy Murphy def. Cedric Alexander {WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match}
This was Alexander’s belated championship rematch. The match was an incredible sprint between two guys who knew each other well enough to find gorgeous counters to each other’s signature maneuvers. I was ready to call this an overlooked thrill ride, but then the finish was woefully anti-climactic. Murphy caught Alexander out of nowhere with a shove into the corner and then hit Murphy’s Law at 10:24. I wish this had a better ending. ***¾
