NXT UK 13

December 5, 2018 – Plymouth, Devon

The Coffey brothers and Wolfgang come out for a promo. Their music has been over dubbed, making it sound like they have no heat. They dub their stable Gallus, which is a Scottish word meaning impressive, or stylish, or any number of things that I’m sure are lost in translation. Travis Banks interrupts, mad that they took him out months ago. He attacks them but the numbers overwhelm him until Mustache Mountain makes the save.

Fabian Aichner def. Mark Andrews
These two pretty much aped the whole match from Dragon Kid and Susumu Yokosuka, but who can blame them. They even pulled out a Dragon Rana. Aichner also blocked a top rope Stundog Millionaire, which is something that I give a trillion points to because the move is too convoluted and the reason I can’t stand Ember Moon finishes. The match felt a little over-choreographed, but I’d love to see them go at it a few more times and smooth things out. ***¼

Johnny Saint admits that he’s really only capable of being a GM on Twitter, so he appoints Sid Scala (who I guess is still injured) as the assistant GM. Rhea Ripley comes out, looking tall as hell compared to Scala, to demand some competition. Later, Saint books Banks vs. Wolfgang for next week’s show via Twitter anyway, so the segment was useless. Also later on, they show a few clips of Ripley vs. Toni Storm in the inaugural women’s title match, and Storm reveals that she was legit injured in the match. That explains why it was so short, at least.

Isla Dawn def. Nina Samuels
Nothing doing here. The replays prove that this was meant to put Dawn over big, but Samuels controlled most of the thing with dull offense. The inevitable Dawn vs. Ripley match will be a real test for Dawn. *

Eli Dennis def. Tucker
I don’t review squashes, but this was a total waste of Tucker. But hey, Dennis sure is tall. N/A

Jordan Devlin def. Flash Morgan Webster
There was a stretch of great offense from Devlin down the stretch here, and Webster sold like a champ near the end as well. But this match was really quite long and it didn’t do a great job of feeling worthy of the time (the show ran over 60 minutes because of it). **¾
