October 10, 2018 – Winter Park, Florida
Tommaso Ciampa comes out to start the show. He more or less tells Velveteen Dream that he shouldn’t have subtly suggested that Ciampa attacked Amsterdam Black. Dream comes out and says he doesn’t like anything Ciampa has been saying, and he wants the title. Ciampa accuses Dream of not believing that he attacked Black, and thinks he just let that slip because he wanted the champion’s attention. I hope that’s the case because otherwise the storyline doesn’t really work. Then Ciampa bags on Dream for having been a contestant on Tough Enough. Our lord and savior Jesus Cross comes out and the crowd wants her to fight with the boys. She’s the best, and the crowd wants her to spill who attacked Black. She sort of accuses them both, but also not really. This was pretty weird.
Keith Lee def. Kona Reeves
I thought we’d given up on the Reeves project when Kassius Ohno squashed him, but here we are. He’s just awful, and he controlled way too much of this short match. *
William Regal finally admits that he needs answers from Cross. Ohno approaches him and wants to know when Matt Riddle is debuting. Regal isn’t talking. Cross comes up and sort of accuses Ohno the same way she did Ciampa and Dream. What’s her game?!
Ricochet def. Pete Dunne & Adam Cole {North American Championship Triple Threat Match}
Boy did this match give me a lot of feelings. First I felt sad because the crowd wasn’t reacting to anything these guys did for like half the match. Then I felt resentful because after a dope segment on the outside, the crowd came alive to say “this is awesome,” which is just really lazy of them. Then I felt annoyed because these fellas ran through a few contrived and sloppy spots. Then I felt awe because I bought a really strong near-fall from Cole. And then when all was said and done I felt alright because the finish was wild as hell, even if the match was not up to the insane levels I’ve come to expect from these three lately. ***½
