Mae Young Classic: Season 2 – Episode 6

October 10, 2010 – Winter Park, Florida

Io Shira def. Zeuxis {Second Round Match}
I got annoyed here for much the same reason as I got annoyed at Mercedes Martinez’s first round match; Zeuxis hits a match-ender (in this case it’s MADE IN JAPAN) and it’s shrugged off like it was a DDT. Also the finish saw Zeuxis tense up waiting for a knee strike to the back, which made the whole thing look fake. Also Michael Cole called a triple jump moonsault an Asai moonsault. Blah. I did like how hard these two went at each other for most of the match, so points for that. **½

Deonna Purrazzo def. Xia Li {Second Round Match}
This was a nice, stiff match, with both ladies coming out looking good. No crazy head drops, no scary moments, just two women putting on a fight and always looking for the win. ***

Tegan Nox def. Nicole Matthews {Second Round Match}
Anyone else feel like Matthews just isn’t very good? This was better than her match against the witch last week, but not by miles and mostly because Nox has great fire and is over. Speaking of Nox, I can never remember in which match during this tournament she gets injured so I’ve watched both her matches in incredible fear. I wonder if the commentators regret in hindsight spending the whole tournament talking about Nox’s knee. **¼

Mia Yim def. Kaitlyn {Second Round Match}
Cole doesn’t know what Cinderella story means. Kaitlyn was already a WWE champion. Cinderella wasn’t born a princess. You’re killing me Cole. Yim’s weird standing figure 4 really doesn’t look like it hurts. This was psychologically sound, but Kaitlyn pretty much wrestles a dull FCW style and I’m just not that into it. What I am into is that I wanted Yim to win, which made Kaitlyn’s near-falls quite dramatic for me. The right person went over in the end. **¾
