NXT 470

September 26, 2018 – Winter Park, Florida

William Regal comes out to give everyone an update on the Amsterdam Black attack situation. The Undisputed Era quickly comes out and interrupts him. They say since he’s been so slow to find the perpetrator, he’d be better off working on the issue of the War Raiders harassing them. Adam Cole is also mad that Pete Dunne got a shot at the North American title before he got his rematch. Regal is not intimidated by Cole, and doesn’t think it would be fair to give him his title rematch immediately after he robbed Dunne and Ricochet of their title opportunities last week. But he can have his rematch… in two weeks in a triple threat match for the North American Championships. And in three weeks, the tag team champions will defend against the War Raiders.

Outside, Johnny Gargano is now looking to reset. He’s been home and rested and he’s ready to come back and be Johnny Wrestling with a straight head. Unfortunately, his wife Candice LeRae is all ornery now and loses her cool on Lacey Evans. Meanwhile, Velveteen Dream seems to know who attacked Black, but he’s no snitch.

Lars Sullivan def. Victor Orchant
Orchant is Vordell Walker, who still has Walker written on his tights. Can we tighten this production up a little bit? Sullivan actually wins by disqualification when EC3 runs out and attacks him. N/A

Jesus Cross asks Regal for a rematch with Bianca Belair. He says he’ll think about it, and she says cryptically that she knows who attacked Black. Regal knows he can’t rely on Cross for information.

Nick Miller & Shane Thorne def. Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford
The Mighty have the Street Profits’ chains and cup, and the Profits are pissed. There were some cool elements to this match, and it was technically tight, but it didn’t have much emotional weight to it. If Dawkins and Ford could have maintained the intensity they showed early on this would have been kicked up another level. **¾

Kairi Sane def. Vanessa Borne
Borne was 0-2 against Sane going into this match. She got rolled here, in a match not really comparable to the first two because it was so short. After the match, Shayna Baszler comes out and challenges Sane to a rematch. Sane is all for it, and she wants to do it at Evolution, the all-women’s all-brand Pay Per View. *¾

Keith Lee, who is after gold in NXT, interrupts a Kona Reeves photo session… or something. Reeves tries to condescend to him, so Lee points out that Reeves has been on a losing streak. They’ll fight next at some point, though I don’t think a match against Reeves is what’s going to turn me around on Lee. Next week, the Forgotten Sons will wrestle and EC3 will take on Lars Sullivan.

Tommaso Ciampa def. Otis Dozovic
NXT is insane. I was expecting Ciampa to put Dozovic away pretty quickly, but then they let Dozer hang with Ciampa for almost ten minutes and really dominate the champion. Look, these are my two favorite wrestlers right now, period. So I’m not going to be able to do anything but gush over this match. It was just a lot more than I thought Dozovic could handle in this environment, and the commentators put him over huge after the loss. ***½
