NXT 415

October 11, 2017 – Winter Park, Florida

Royce Da 5’7 def. Liv Morgan & Jesus Cross {Triple Threat Contender Match}
Royce got a spot at the Takeover women’s title match thanks to her win here. I’ll give them 10 points for attempting creative three-way spots, but then I have to take 100 away for their execution of those spots. And then the Undisputed Era brought out Taynara Conti to screw with Cross and give Royce the win. Meh. Why Conti, of all people? She’s nobody to the fans. *½

Velveteen Dream def. Lio Rush
So, turns out Rush is awesome, as he got himself more over in two minutes here than most of the roster has in their whole NXT runs. Wouldn’t mind seeing a real match between these two at all. **

Lars Sullivan def. Danny Burch
This lost steam when it became clear that Burch wasn’t going to be getting much offense after the first minute. *

Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford def. Damien Smith & Marcos Espada-Quick
I don’t review squashes. The jobbers here looked like actual children. N/A

Andrade Cien Almas def. Johnny Gargano
Having now seen all four matches between these two, they clearly have a TV match speed and a Takeover speed. I think a lot of that has to do with going hard and fast and their drive to do that being tied to how the crowd is reacting to them. That is to say, they tried a lot of cool stuff here and some of it didn’t hit very well, I believe because they weren’t as jazzed up from a molten hot crowd. Either way, this is on par with their fourth match in Atlanta. Sorry for the anachronism, but while this is their second match chronologically, it’s the fourth one I’ve watched. ***½
