NXT 256

December 25, 2014 – Winter Park, Florida

It’s the end of the year, which means there’s only one match featured on this show complimenting a year-in retrospective. But a couple notes before we get to that.

There’s a nice segment in which Adrian Neville shows us around his hometown. His accent gets thicker while he’s there. His mother, who is adorable, is almost impossible to understand but you can make out her calling Neville by his real name. She has a framed photo of him holding the Open the Brave Gate Championship in her home and thus she’s my favorite person on earth. They show a now-infamous photo of him and Kevin Owens from when they were both just starting and it’s crazy how much they’ve changed in 10 years.

There’s a backstage segment with William Regal and Curtis Axel that starts filming before the scene starts, and it’s bizarre that it made it to the Network. Axel needs to recharge his career so he wants back into NXT.

Charlotte def. Sasha Banks {NXT Women’s Championship Match}
It’s a bit of a cheat, but this is the first time the ladies have been in the main event of NXT. It wouldn’t be long until they’d do the same on a real episode. Charlotte gets an intro courtesy of her dear ol’ dad. This started out a little rough, but once they got in gear they really got in gear. This had the intensity that was missing from their Takeover match and really just needed a bit more time to make it something special. ***¼
