NXT 159

March 6, 2013 – Winter Park, Florida

Dusty Rhodes starts the show by saying that the intended main event for last week will happen this week for sure. And he’s beefed up security to make sure that the Shield won’t take out the wrestlers this time.

Adrian Neville def. Scott Dawson & Judas Devlin [Handicap Match]
Oliver Gray has apparently disappeared and Neville doesn’t know where he is. He’ll take on both opponents alone. In the middle of the match the Wyatt Family deposits Oliver Gray’s broken body on the ramp. Neville freaks out and tries to get to Gray but the jobbers won’t let him out of the ring. Neville realizes he’ll have to finish the thing and pins Dawson before running over the Gray. There was a better story told in this little match than in almost any other match to date in NXT. This is how you do professional wrestling! I’m probably overrating this little bit but I’m so starved for good wrestling. ***¼

Leo Kruger def. Yoshi Tatsu
I don’t review squashes. It’s also pretty sad that the fans have caught on to Tatsu, who is a lot of fun in the ring, being a jobber in NXT and don’t react to him anymore. And then Kruger keeps beating on Tatsu after the match and Gabriel makes the save because that feud must continue despite the babyface going over clean in their first meeting. N/A

Audrey Marie, Aksana & Alicia Fox def. Sasha Banks, Cameron & Naomi
This wasn’t pretty, but it wasn’t boring either. It also wasn’t really anything but a showcase for Naomi. Why not let Banks, the woman who you actually want to push on this brand, get the spotlight? **¼

In the back, Bray Wyatt tells Bo Dallas that had he accept the Wyatt Family’s offer, the Shield never would have laid him out last week. Dallas refuses him again.

Conor O’Brian def. Corey Graves & Bo Dallas [Number One Contender Triple Threat Match]
This was a heatless, typical WWE-style triple threat match. It wasn’t awful, but it certainly wasn’t remarkable in any way. And why go through three weeks of lame contender matches only to end up back at O’Brian vs. Big E Langston? **
