The show starts with Corey Graves returning the title belt to Dusty Rhodes. Then he books Graves against Conor O’Brian and Bo Dallas in a triple threat match for a title shot.

When NXT was first rebooted, I said I wanted to see this match. Now that it’s happening I’m so disinterested in it that I have to call it an indictment of NXT’s lazy writing. Regal says they’ve been wrestling each other since they were kids, and while that’s not exactly true (I’ve heard they had a match against each other at 15), they did feud in South Africa in a company called World Wrestling Professionals. There’s also a YouTube video out there of them wrestling in Florida Championship Wrestling. And this was really good by Kruger standards. I was pretty relieved when he lost clean, but then he hit Gabriel with Tyson Kidd’s crutch after the match and I realize that this will be another feud without a satisfying blow-off. ***

Corey Graves nc. Conor O’Brian [Number One Contender Match]
Dallas was mysteriously knocked out backstage before the match, so the match was a “There’s Nobody To Cheer For” match. This started strong but then became a total disaster. You know your match sucks when the show can cut away to a commercial in the middle of a supposed submission move. Not a rest hold, a submission move. And then there was no finish because the lights went out and then the Shield ran in to beat up both guys. I’d be upset about this development but the title scene is such garbage right now that I’d be very happy to see any of these three dudes fight Big E Langston. Here’s hoping they don’t just disappear. ¾*
