NXT 114

April 25, 2012 – Grand Rapids, Michigan

Tyler Reks & Curt Hawkins have been fired, and Titus O’Neil & Darren Young are on Smackdown now. That’s a lot of dead weight gone. So Matt Striker calls out Hornswoggle who will be making the matches tonight. Hornswoggle is able to speak, which I guess was made possible by a hug from Santa Claus. I am not joking. He makes a main event tag match that seems pretty boring, then calls out Derrick Bateman. Bateman doesn’t understand why the two guys he beat got drafted to Smackdown and he didn’t (even though he won a match that granted him a Smackdown appearance). JTG runs out and attacks him so they have a match.

Derrick Bateman def. JTG
This picked up a bit down the stretch, but it was mostly nothing. *¾

It turns out that the Maxine and Johnny Curtis have to actually be handcuffed to each other while they’re in the building for NXT. Hornswoggle books them both in matches.

Kaitlyn & Tamina Snuka def. Maxine & Natalya
Natalya turned heel backstage because of jealousy over Kaitlyn talking to Tyson Kidd. More happened in this match than in the typical preboot NXT women’s match, but most of that more wasn’t very good. *

Tyson Kidd def. Johnny Curtis
This was meant to be a tag match, but something has happened to Percy Watson, so Michael McGillicutty is out of the match and it’s a singles. This was pretty solid for an NXT match. Kidd is a nice reprieve from the rest of the garbage on the show. **1/2
