NXT 91

November 16, 2011 – Bridgeport, Connecticut

Percy Watson and Titus O’Neil start the show. O’Neil calls out how long the season has been. He’s also way less over than he used to be. Those two things are probably connected. Tyler Reks interrupts him and whatever who cares they’ll wrestle in the main event.

Percy Watson def. Derrick Bateman
Bateman was also involved in the opening promo, but do you really care? The length of NXT season 5 is so despair inducing that it has me wondering what the hell was going on in the planning of it. If there was no planning, why weren’t these guys out there having more fun with it like they did in season 4? This was fine, I suppose. Bateman got really devalued in this basic, basic match. *½

Johnny Curtis hits on Maxine, who rejects him. Because WWE was really fucking gross around this time, Curtis says he’s going to keep pursuing her.

JTG def. Yoshi Tatsu
This was nothing, and only existed to remind us that JTG and Tamina are dating now. *¼

After running into Curtis, and then Maxine, Bateman makes a call to Teddy Long who he thinks can help him make things smoother with his fiance.

Titus O’Neil def. Tyler Reks
There hasn’t been a match worth remembering on this show in over a month, and my standards for remembering a match in this era of NXT are remarkably low. Why have matches on this show if nothing of note is going to happen in them? After the match, Darren Young returns from suspension and attacks O’Neil. *¼
