NXT 89

November 2, 2011 – Greenville, South Carolina

JTG starts the show in the ring. He talks trash and then brings BetaMax out to the ring. Derrick Bateman gives Maxine an engagement ring. Titus O’Neil, Percy Watson, and AJ interrupt their makeout session. The whole long segment leads to a six person main event. The babyfaces keep making fun of the heels’ appearance, which doesn’t seem like a good guy thing to do.

Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso def. Johnny Curtis & Tyson Kidd
Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks’s suspension kicks in for real here, and Kidd is mad about it. Curtis is his hand chosen partner to help him fight the Usos on their behalf. I guess Curtis turned heel because R-Truth decided to form a tag team with the Miz rather than his contractually obligated tag team (plus title shot) with Curtis. The match didn’t get interesting until the last minute. **

The show a recap of the Muppets on Raw, and it’s the best couple minutes that have aired on this show in a long time.

Kaitlyn def. Tamina
This time around they added a chinlock and a finisher for Kaitlyn to the punches and kicks from the last match. William Regal praises them for having a better match than last week, but that’s only barely true. *¼

AJ, Percy Watson & Titus O’Neil def. Derrick Bateman, Maxine & JTG
This was about what you’d expect. There were enough people coming in and out of the ring to keep this from getting too boring, and the finish made sense. I’m not mad at it. **¼
