NXT 61

April 19, 2011 – Greenwich, London

The show starts with a tug of war challenge. Matt Striker is out so Maryse hosts the thing horribly. Jacob Novak wins the thing.

Conor O’Brian def. Jacob Novak
Novak antagonizes William Regal before the match. This was another match where O’Brian got dominated until the end when he catches his opponent by surprise. This time around it’s because Novak was focused on Regal. Regal’s refusal to really engage in the angle even though as a commentator he could really make it work is ruining the thing. Novak shoves Regal after the match. ¾*

Byron Saxton things Yoshi Tatsu shouldn’t get too wrapped up in Maryse. He doesn’t want Tatsu to get hurt. Tatsu has boob goggles on so he ignores Saxton and agrees to go shopping with Maryse after the show. He also stares off into space when Saxton tries to talk strategy for the night.

Hornswoggle def. Darren Young
Young bragged to Chavo Guerrero about having a hand tied behind his back and a blindfold on, so Guerrero makes him do both things for this match. At 98 seconds, this match felt a little long. ¼*

Lucky Cannon & Tyson Kidd def. Byron Saxton & Yoshi Tatsu
Cannon has been in almost every main event this season, so I’m curious to see what derails a guy that they clearly wanted to push. This wasn’t as boring as the last match between these two teams, but it lasted longer and thus wasted more of my time. It ended when Tatsu got distracted seeing Cannon talking to Maryse, which got him pinned by Kidd. **
