NXT 31

September 21, 2010 – Bloomington, Illinois

They really need to follow up on the Michael Cole outburst from last week, because right now it’s borderline harassment that they sent these women out on TV to fail and built the show around that. CM Punk joins Josh Matthews on commentary.

The next challenge is musical chairs. Punk is a really good sport on commentary, saying they played musical chairs at the Steel Domain wrestling school in Chicago. AJ wins the contest.

Aksana seems to be having visa issues. Goldust is very sympathetic. I’m actually really impressed at how good her english was at the end of her WWE run given how bad it was here. I wonder if this is leading to a marriage angle with Goldust.

AJ def. Maxine
Most of this match was a headlock, as it becomes clear on commentary that the point of this show is to bury these women. Why do this? You hired them? Why put them on TV and humiliate them? This is insane. *

Cole comes out after the match and says that NXT is bad without him. Punk says it’s bad with or without him. Cole returns to the commentary table. The rookies have to cut promos on random topics. The promos are awful, but what’s the point of this? I have to ask again, why send these women out there to die? On the bright side, Naomi says the quiet part out loud, “Aren’t we here to wrestle?” AJ wins the contest, so she swept this episode too.

Kelly Kelly, Jamie & Naomi def. Layla, Michelle McCool & Kaitlyn
This match got set up earlier in the show when Vicky Guerrero brought in LayCool is ringers, and they complained that Kelly was coming onto their protege Kaval. When Naomi was in there, this was mostly pretty decent. Otherwise it was pretty iffy. The commentary is really distracting and so mean it makes me uncomfortable. LayCool beats up Kaitlyn after the match on account of her losing the match for the team. **
