William Regal & Ezekiel Jackson def. Christian & Kane
There was a Book of Ezekiel vs. Christian the Christian promo battle before the match that made me think that the naming conventions here had been a 12 year build to a Pulp Fiction joke. This match was super long and crazy boring. The only good reason to have Kane in there would be to do Kane vs. Jackson power stuff, and they didn’t bother with that. Christian hit Regal with the Killswitch but Jackson blind tagged in and hit the uranage for the win at 14:46 (shown). Half the episode was devoted to these four guys and I hated it. *

Vance Archer attacked Shelton Benjamin while Benjamin was talking about the upcoming Royal Rumble backstage. Archer didn’t appear at the Royal Rumble, but Benjamin wound up getting eliminated by John Cena. For the sake of it, I’ll mention that Yoshi Tatsu and Zack Ryder were also in the match, getting eliminated by Cena and CM Punk, respectively. Edge won, last eliminating Cena.

Goldust, the Hurricane & Yoshi Tatsu def. Zack Ryder, Caylen Croft & Trent Barreta
This was a few steps slower than earlier matches in this feud, which seems odd given there were more guys to keep the pace up here. Tatsu hit the Saikyou High Kick on Barreta for the win at 10:08. **¼

And now for the ECW Championship’s last ever appearance on PPV, at the Royal Rumble.

Christian def. Ezekiel Jackson {ECW Championship Match}
It’s Jerry Lawler, Matt Striker, and Michael Cole doing commentary duty here. This was really meandering and I’m surprised they gave it more than ten minutes. There just wasn’t any there there, and while Jackson spent pretty much the whole match beating up Christian it somehow never felt like the big man would win the title. That’s a feat in a terrible way. Christian won at 11:59 with the Killswitch. That finish didn’t work for me either, because Jackson had blocked the Killswitch half a dozen times, and Christian had done absolutely nothing to Jackson that made me believe his final attempt would work. Why not change it up for the win? Blah. **
