WWE ECW 179

November 10, 2009 – Sheffield, South Yorkshire

The Abraham Washington Show starts the episode, with guest Yoshi Tatsu. The whole thing is just making fun of Tatsu’s accent. Tatsu gets a couple jabs in, but then it just ends. This show was spiraling.

Goldust def. Paul Burchill
Nothing really happened here, and then the Hurricane ran around the ring, distracting Burchill long enough for Goldust to hit the Final Cut for the win at 3:53. Garbage, garbage, garbage. ½*

Zack Ryder admits he has a crush on Rosa Mendes and asks her to be in his corner. She says maybe. Then we see his fantasies again. I hate this to death.

Vance Archer def. Jason Blackwell
It’s hard not to be distracted by Archer’s tramp stamp. He hits the inverted DDT for the win at 1:21. N/A

Christian def. William Regal {ECW Championship Match}
There are two kinds of Regal matches. There are the matches wherein Regal stiffs the crap out of his opponents and they have a fun little bout, and there are the majority of his matches which are really just boring stretches of everyone laying around doing very little. This was actually a mix of both. It got a ton of time and the first two-thirds were quite boring. But eventually Christian hit the Killshot, Regal sold it funny, kicked out of it, and then locked into fun-Regal mode. The last few minutes contained a collection of fun counters and gnarly strikes, and that’s all I really wanted from this. If only it had made up more of the match. Christian won in 15:02 (shown) with the Killshot. ***
