WWE ECW 168

August 25, 2009 – Phoenix, Arizona

William Regal, Vladimir Kozlov, and Ezekiel Jackson come out for a chat. Regal says everyone assumed that Kozlov and Jackson were heading for a fight, but anyone who watched could see it was clear that they wanted to fuck each other. Christian teases him for losing in eight seconds at the PPV. He wants to move on to other challengers that he hasn’t beat in in eight seconds, but Tiffany books them against each other in a non-title main event. If Regal wins he gets another title shot.

Goldust dco. Sheamus
I’m not sure what a double count out does for Goldust in this feud given that he was down 0-2 going into it. This was no different than their previous matches, except that this one didn’t have a real finish. It ended at 3:56. *½

The Hurricane vs. Paul Burchill feud is so big that it’s continuing on Superstars this week.

Tyler Reks & Yoshi Tatsu def. Zack Ryder & Shelton Benjamin
This was perfectly fine. The crowd was pretty into all four of these guys at this point. Tatsu caught Ryder with the Saikyou High Kick for the win at 3:55. Benjamin attacked Ryder after the match. **¼

William Regal def. Christian
Has any champion lost as much on TV as Christian? I dug that given the stipulation, Regal was down to win by count out and actively tried to at one point. I also like that he was working stiff as hell at this point in his career. In the end, Kozlov got involved while Jackson distracted the referee and then Regal hit the running knee for the win at 8:39 (shown). ***¼
