Lucha Underground: Kill Mil

September 26, 2018 – Los Angeles, California

Matanza Cueto def. Jack Evans
Evans tried to quit at the top of the show because he didn’t want to wrestle in the same company as XO Lishus. Also, he would have stopped Matanza had he been at the wedding. Antonio Cueto says that Evans can quit if he wins one more match, but if he loses he’ll never leave the Temple. Evans tries to run but Matanza cuts him off and the rest is inevitable. After beating Evans up at ringside, he wins the match at 1:21 with the Wrath of the Gods, countering an actual near-fall for Evans. Evans is sacrificed after the match. *

Daga, Jeremiah Snake & Kobra Moon def. XO Lishus, Ivelisse & Joey Ryan {Lucha Underground Championship Match}
Paul London comes out and introduces El Bunny and the White Rabbit before the match. Matt Striker can’t help but say, “That White Rabbit looks a little cross.” We get it dude, you’re in the know. So lame. The Rabbit Tribe hangs back and watches the match. Lishus is so much fun, and Daga is obviously quite good. I wish this was just a singles match between them. Daga made Ryan tap out to an armbar at 5:23. This was pretty fun for a mindless five-minute match. I also don’t mind that a team that didn’t win any matches to earn a title shot got beat so quickly and decisively in their title match. After the match, the Rabbit Tribe attacks the challengers. I learn here that tick tock predated NXT. **¾

Jake Strong def. Aerostar & Drago {Handicap Nunchucks Match}
Striker and Vampiro can’t decide on which version of reality to exist in, getting into an argument over whether or not Lucha Underground has to deal with the California State Athletic Commission to allow nunchucks. Vampiro saying that the idea of Antonio caring what a regulatory body commission would thing is stupid makes sense, obviously, and Striker being stupid makes sense, obviously. This match was pretty fun, featuring Drago and Aerostar doing the children stacked on top of each other in a trenchcoat bit to make themselves bigger than Strong. The only thing I didn’t like about this was Strong’s blank face while on offense. Show a little personality, dude. I do think he sold just the right amount for his opponents, which was some but not a ton, and really only when they used the nunchucks or double teamed him. Anyway, handicap matches are tough and this one was done well. Strong got the win with the anklelock on Aerostar at 8:27. Then, he broke Drago’s ankle after the match. ***½

Pentagon Dark def. Mil Muertes, El Dragon Azteca, and King Cuerno {Number One Contender Fatal Four Way Match}
Dark will now face Martinez for the title at Ultima Lucha Cuatro. After some forgettable action, zombie Fenix came out to stalk Melissa Santos. She made a run for it and Azteca went after Fenix. That left us with a rematch from last week. The Mack came in and attacked Muertes, which left him open to Dark’s Panama Sunrise for the win at 5:19. This was productive in that it set up three Ultima Lucha matches (Dark vs. Martinez, Fenix vs. Azteca, Mack vs. Muertes), but as a match it was nothing. Mack is no longer afraid to die so he challenges Muertes to a Death Match. I wonder what Cuerno will do at the big show. *¾
