Chavo Guerrero wants one more thing from Dario Cueto. Cueto lists all the things he’s given him, and then gives him the title match he wants. Guerrero is still worried about Konnan, so Cueto says that if Konnan interferes at all, Guerrero will be the champion.
Texano def. DelAvar Daivari
Big Ryck tries to interfere here, but Texano caught him and then hit Daivari with a Ligerbomb for the win at 6:10. This was okay, but neither guy is that compelling in the ring. **½
Konnan gives Prince Puma a pep talk. He says that even though the deck is stacked against Puma, Guerrero isn’t championship material. That probably wasn’t a shot at the ECW Championship, but it felt like one to me, having just suffered through all of WWE ECW. Catrina appears and says that Mil Muertes is going to destroy who ever is the champion. Muertes appears and then disappears, so Konnan tells Puma to be wary of mind games. Later, Konnan encourages someone shrouded in mystery to represent Mexico and take out Guerrero once and for all.
Drago def. Hernandez
This was psychologically sound, as Drago picked and poked at Hernandez to get him out of sorts, and then rope-a-doped him to tire him out. Hernandez got frustrated and grabbed the belt out of a fan’s pants with which to whip Drago. That’s enough for the disqualification at 6:43. Looks like they’re pushing this down the road to Ultima Lucha after all. He turns on the fans and tells them to come at him if they have a problem with him. **¾
Catrina visits Guerrero and warns him that if he becomes champion, it won’t be for long. Guerrero stands firm in the face of Muertes, and Muertes doesn’t like it.
Alberto el Patron def. Marty Martinez
Total squash. Patron wins in 54 seconds with the cross armbreaker. He cuts a promo after the match talking about Johnny Mundo showing his true colors and promising to rip his face off at Ultima Lucha. N/A
Prince Puma def. Chavo Guerrero {Lucha Underground Championship No Disqualification Match}
It took almost no time for the Crew to get involved. Then Texano came out, revealing himself to be the representative of Mexico that Konnan was talking to. With the Crew neutralized, Puma pinned Guerrero at 4:55. Guerrero seemed to be legitimately injured in this match, and probably thanks to that this was a match in name only. It’s clear they were hoping for Guerrero vs. Texano at Ultima Lucha, but that doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen. *
In the locker room, an injured Guerrero is approached by Blue Demon, who laughs at him. Guerrero accuses him of hiring Texano to do his and Mexico’s dirty work. He infuriates Demon by suggesting that Texano is Mexico now, and Demon is a relic of the past. Demon loses it and says that he is Mexico. Guerrero seems pleased with himself. This post-production is brilliant, and makes it seamlessly seem like that was the plan all along.
