Lucha Underground: Death vs. the Drago

June 24, 2015 – Los Angeles, California

They announce Johnny Mundo vs. Alberto El Patron as the second match for Ultima Lucha. Prince Puma vs. Drago is the first, but Mil Muertes might change that tonight.

Super Fly def. Sexy Star
Fly warned Vampiro not to interfere in this match, since he’s clearly worried about her well being. This was more like the nothing undercard matches of earlier episodes than it was deserving of the revenge storyline it claimed to be playing to. Fly hit a powerbomb for the win at 6:33. He continued to beat on Star after the math. **¼

Pentagon came out to the ring and said he wanted to destroy the man who robbed him of his greatest sacrifice. He wants Vampiro. They get into a little scuffle and the crowd goes crazy. A referee makes sure it doesn’t go too far.

Aerostar def. Cage, Marty Martinez, and The Mack {Ancient Medallion Fatal Four Way Match}
Martinez feels like a lucha libre Eugene. I do not care for it. The match felt pretty indirific, with sloppy work and a lot of two-in-two-out bullshit. Aerostar got the win with a springboard splash on Martinez at 9:11. This didn’t do much for me. **½

Catrina approaches the trios champions and tells them that death is coming for them. Then the skull boys appear behind the champs and attack. Muertes appears and walks with Catrina to the ring for the main event.

Mil Muertes def. Drago {Number One Contender Match}
Hernandez attacks Drago before the match and whips him with a belt. Apparently he’s bitter that he didn’t win the contender match a few weeks ago. That felt like a really forced way to get us to Hernandez vs. Drago and Puma vs. Muertes at Ultima Lucha. This match was less of a main event and more of an extended squash. Also, Muertes looked like he was off a step. Also, they said halfway through that it was a no disqualification match because Muertes was using chairs. Also, Drago more or less no-sold a powerbomb on the announce table. The finish wasn’t bad, at least. Muertes countered the Dragon’s Lair, pounded on Drago’s back, and then won in 8:52 with the Flatliner. Puma comes out to stare down Muertes as the show ends. **¼

This episode was basically a bust.
