June 10, 2020 – Newham, London
WALTER kicks things off with a chat in the ring. I love that he’s integrated the dual defenses from April into his legacy brag. He calls himself the forever champion, which I guess he can do now that Kay Lee Ray is rather obviously losing her title in the main event. Nobody interrupts. That was not worth hyping a week in advance.
Subculture announces they’ll have a mixed tag match against Jinny & Joseph Conners. Later, Sam Grandwell interrupts Gallus’s meeting with Sid Scala. That leads to a match between Wolfgang and Gradwell next week. Later still, Teoman is still trying to turn Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith against each other.
Jordan Devlin def. Saxon Huxley
Huxley controlled almost the entire match, save for one moment after Devlin poked his eyes and then the finish where Devlin hit the Devlin Side for the win at 5:28. Not the kind of match I want for Devlin. *¾
T-Bone & Primate def. Dan Maloney & Andy Wild
Pretty Deadly join commentary for this match. Wild’s hot tag was fun, but this was very squishy otherwise. Symbiosis won when they hit a powerslam/diving headbutt combo on Wild at 6:09. I’m not dying to see Pretty Deadly vs. Symbiosis. *½
Meiko Satomura def. Kay Lee Ray {NXT UK Women’s Championship Match}
They’re giving this a good chunk of time. This had three things that their last, also very good match didn’t have. First and most obvious was Satomura winning. Second was KLR getting frustrated and desperate toward the end and trying in vain to get counted out and disqualified. And third was Satomura having to take the time to readjust her gameplan because of bad ring positioning and paying for it because it gave KLR too much time to recover. But in the end, Satomura just peppered KLR with all of her offense and got the win with the Scorpion Kick at 18:25. A very satisfying conclusion to the episode. The streamers filling the ring were a very nice touch. ****
