Ilja Dragunov def. Dave Mastiff
Mastiff is now on a five-match losing streak, having not won a match since January. He lost this one on a technicality, as Dragunov breaks Mastiff’s nose with an elbow and the referee called off the match at 1:36. Not much to rate here. I have faith that they’ll incorporate this into the “Dragunov can’t control himself’ narrative, but I don’t understand why they didn’t edit in a different reaction from Dragunov for the post-match. Xia Brookside wants to be champion because Kay Lee Ray isn’t a champ to be proud of. If she feels that way then KLR must have gotten vaccinated. Throughout the show the other contenders’ gauntlet wrestlers have videos too, but as far as I know they aren’t anti-vaxxers so I have nothing to say about them. Then Stevie Turner tells us that she’s still futuristic. It’s good they showed us this video of her because I’d definitely forgotten she existed. Then, Dragunov laments hurting Mastiff, a man who only wanted to help him. He’s going to change. Then, Gallus won’t tell Rampage Brown where Joe Coffey is, but Wolfgang is willing to fight him for now.
Nathan Frazer is the guest on this week’s Supernova Sessions. He explains that Ben Carter was a name he used to hide his identity from folks he didn’t want knowing he was wrestling. But now he has nothing to hide. Sha Samuels (who is apparently Dar’s cohost now) doesn’t think Frazer is British enough because of the time he spent in the United States, so they’re gonna fight in a Heritage Rules match. Just kidding, it’s a challenge on behalf of Dar. Why is Dar only wrestling in Heritage Rules matches?
Subculture has merch now. It’s kinda neat but I can’t find it online. Then, Tyler Bate and A-Kid review their last match against each other in anticipation of their upcoming match. Also neat. Then, Amale attacked Brookside, calling into question whether or not Brookside will be in the contenders’ gauntlet nxt week. I would love to know if this and the gauntlet were filmed after Brookside put conspiracy theory nonsense up on Instagram and the company was able to punish her for it.
Trent Seven def. Saxon Huxley
I thought this was supposed to be Seven vs. Sam Gradwell, but it looks like they’re jamming this in so that Seven can have a win in between losses (to Devlin and then Gradwell). That’s my guess, anyway. Huxley got in a bit of token offense, some of which was probably wilder than a match like this warrants. Gradwell pops up on the big screen and talks trash, but Seven perseveres and hits the Seven Star Lariat for the win at 6:01. I hate the big screen distraction. I hate it so very much. **¼
Kenny Williams def. Amir Jordan {No Disqualification Match}
Loser leaves NXT UK. Sid Scala made it very clear to both of them that the stipulation would be strictly enforced. This was worse than their slightly above average first match. The fight in the ring early on was boring, the fight on the floor after that was boring, and that just took all the wind out of my sails during the less-than-boring stuff they did after getting back to the ring. The finish was executed awkwardly; Jordan was on the turnbuckle and threw a chair at Williams, only for Williams to sidestep it and stumble into the ropes to knock Jordan down. Then Williams hit a bulldog on a chair for the win at 13:51. They tried for epic (sort of), but they failed. Jordan has never been a major presence on this show, so I can’t say I’m curious as to whether this is going anywhere. **½
