NXT UK 74

December 12, 2019 – Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire

Kay Lee Ray def. Isla Dawn
This was more competent high-impact action than I’m used to from Dawn, and a nice dominant performance from KLR. She hit the Gory Bomb for the win at 4:28. After the match, she KLR talks trash on the mic until Piper Niven walks out. But then Toni Storm runs past her to attack the champ. KLR bails, leaving Storm and Niven arguing in the ring. Sid Scalia comes out and books a triple threat match for the title at Takeover. **½

Jordan Devlin gives another presentation, focusing on low moments in Tyler Bate’s career. Later, Joe Coffey says winning the title would be the biggest score in NXT UK. Coffey is basically a Guy Ritchie character.

Trent Seven was set to wrestle Michael May, but Eddie Dennis ran in and beat up May before the match. Then he calmly walks out through the crowd.

Radzi asks Noam Dar about his claim that he’s guaranteed to be on every Takeover. Dar brings him to the GM’s office to ask what his match at Takeover will be. Johnny Saint tells him that he’ll be facing Bate next week, and that his contract isn’t what he’s been saying it is with regards to Takeover events.

Ridge Holland def. Jack Starz
This was more impressive than Holland’s debut, probably because Starz is the primo, number one jobber supreme. Also because Holland went full Lesnar with suplexes here. He hits the Northern Grit for the win at 2:42. **

Earlier this week, Amir Jordan returned to the Performance Center and surprised Kenny Williams. They’re back in tag team action next week. That was cute.

Mark Coffey & Wolfgang nc. Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner {NXT UK Tag Team Championship Match}
There was a very strange moment in this when Coffey went down and they called for a medic, but then he got up and fight back. If that was planned it fell really flat. It fell flat either way, but if they were really worried that was hurt I’d forgive it. I am impressed that Wolfgang’s comeback got such a good reaction, because Gallus got booed during the ring introductions. From there this picked up some major speed and never slowed down. The tag rules went completely out the window though. The Grizzled Young Veterans ran out and tried to steal the belts, but Flash Mandrews stopped them. The fight spilled into the ring and the match got thrown out at 12:00. Johnny Saint ran out and booked a four way ladder match for the titles at Takeover. Gallus & the Welshmen are into it, but all of the heels are pissed. ***¼
