Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel def. Primate & Wild Boar
This did a really nice job of keeping Imperium looking unbeatable (in addition to big wins for WALTER and Alexander Wolfe lately). I totally understand why they went with such a dominating performance for the evil Europeans, even if I’m a little sad that the Hunt didn’t get to do their wild fun thing a bit more. Imperium won with a European uppercut/powerbomb combo on Boar. ***
Sis Scala announces that Noam Dar and Travis Banks will fight at Takeover in a week in a half. Later, Aichner and Barthel are attacked in their dressing room by (apparently) Tyler Bate.
Kay Lee Ray def. Shax
Shax’s gear is just lingerie. The crowd didn’t seem all that familiar with her, and aside from one awkwardly executed, intricate spot leading to KLR winning with the Gory Bomb, she didn’t really do anything notable during this squash. After the match, KLR runs down Storm on the mic, comparing her own full life to Storm’s empty life which is only populated by the title. Storm has enough when KLR brings up her dad, so she smacks her. Angry Storm is interesting. N/A
They show a promo video for the Last Man Standing match at Takeover, and it looks like Joe Coffey has cut off most of his hair. I could be wrong and it could just be that his man bun is shaggier than usual in the front. Then, we get a hype video for Oliver Carter, who is coming next week but will probably just get squashed. Later, Jordan Devlin is upset that he’s not on the Takeover card. Kenny Williams interrupts him to tell him to stop whining and get in the ring with him next week. WALTER & Alexander Wolfe walk up and freak out over the lack of order in NXT UK.
Mark Andrews def. James Drake
This, in addition to Flash Morgan Webster’s win over Mark Coffey last week, got Flash Mandrews a spot in the tag title match at Takeover. The match was a lot of fun, but Drake really needs to learn to take a bulldog on his chest instead of on his knees if he’s going to be asked to take it as often as he did here. I don’t really like critiquing things like that as I like to give a lot of latitude to guys doing athletic feats I can’t do, but this took me out of the match. Andrews won with the Stundog Millionaire after Gallus distracted everybody with a ringside temper tantrum. I don’t think this needed the gaga at the end. ***
Trent Steven comes to the ring through the crowd, and while they try to sell him as the attacker, he’s wearing different shoes. WALTER & Wolfe come out but Bate takes Wolfe out with a chair (and he’s wearing the attacker’s shoes). Mustache Mountain close the show by beating up WALTER. That was a lot of fun.
