NXT UK 47

June 12, 2019 – Glasgow, Scotland

Jazzy Gabert & Jinny def. Isla Dawn & Xia Brookside
They continue to hype the match that Dawn and Brookside had against each other months ago, which I think is great because it encourages everyone to put on good matches in different styles even if their matches aren’t given much time. This was mostly Gabert squashing both opponents on her own and Jinny forcing her to tag out so she could hog the glory. I’m a little disappointed this wasn’t a bit more competitive given it’s build, but I get why they went they way they did. N/A

Ligero finally explains the extent to which he’s embarrassed of his looks; he was born with a facial deformity that wasn’t corrected until he was eight years old. That’s good development should he ever decide to wrestle without the mask. Then, Kenny Williams says he that likes Noam Dar despite the fact that Dar is a prick. Next week, Williams is facing Kassius Ohno.

Ilja Dragunov def. Joseph Conners
Dragunov’s cartoonish style jived a little better with me here. Sadly, Conners was in control for a significant portion of the match and that’s almost never interesting. I still don’t like the Russian’s finisher. **

Toni Storm isn’t worried about Kay Lee Ray. She starts calling her title belt the shiny shiny. Next week there will be a battle royal to decide the next number one contender for the women’s title. We also get a look at Travis Banks because he’s the number one contender and has been on the brand since the beginning and yet we don’t really have a sense of his character. He comes off as a likeable fella, which is good because until now he’s seemed rather dour. They don’t announce when Banks’s title match will happen. Also, the Hunt challenges Gallus to a match next week.

Fabian Aichner, Marcel Barthel & WALTER def. Pete Dunne, Trent Seven & Tyler Bate
It took everyone a minute to get the action flowing, but once it did the match was a blast. Everyone started firing on all cylinders, hitting wild moves and finding creative ways to impede the opposite team from being at full force. I really dug it. The finish saw the referee get bumped and Alexander Wolfe debut on the brand to attack Bate and give Barthel the win. After the match he posed with Imperium, giving them the numbers advantage over Brish Strong Style in this war (until Banks inevitably gets involved). ***¾
