James Drake & Zack Gibson def. Mike Hitchman & Jay Melrose
Hitchman & Melrose are cute as the team of Wild Boar and Primate, and this is certainly a step up from Hitchman just being a weirdo on his own. This was quick and easy and a lot of fun. Gibson & Drake are dope and the animal men more or less work as a team. Gibson cuts an unhinged promo after the match and it’s spectacular. **¾
Dave Mastiff finally gets the shaky cam during his entrance again. Before his match with Josh Morrell can happen, Eddie Dennis attacks Morrell during his entrance in the most predictable moment on this show in a while. Mastiff freaks out, but Dennis just calmly walks off. Right after that we get a weird, meaningless promo from Joseph Connors.
Marcel Barthel def. Mark Andrews
The crowd sings Dvorak’s Allegro Con Fuoco for Barthel, which is kind of weird because it’s a song by a Czech composer for an overtly German wrestler. I know it’s the Ringkampf entrance music, but that also doesn’t really make sense. This was fine, just fine, and ended after Fabian Aichner came out and attacked Andrews. The Europeans shake hands after the match. **½
Rhea Ripley def. Deonna Purrazzo {NXT UK Women’s Championship Match}
After a hinky start this turned into a pretty good little main event. Ripley still doesn’t feel like much of a champion, and just like in her match with Dawn she gave away too much here before suddenly hitting her finisher for the win. They really need to move the belt onto Storm at Takeover. Speaking of Storm, Ripley finally shows some in-ring personality by attacking Purrazzo after the match until Storm makes the save. ***
