Toni Storm def. Io Shirai {Tournament Finals}
When Storm got her knees up for the moonsault down the stretch I marked out huge. This was a lot of fun, almost as good as Storm’s match against Meiko Satomura. This was also the first time since her debut that Shirai looked like a world-killer badass. Storm got a bit more offense here than she did against Satomura, and the drama was just as thick. ****

Shayna Baszler def. Kairi Sane {NXT Women’s Championship Match}
The finish was a real big sandy butt. It was an especially sandy butt because the match was so damn dope leading up to it. I don’t think it does anything for Baszler’s character that she needed help from Marina Shaffir & Jessamyn Duke to win the belt. Also, the referee straight up looked at so much of the interference and did nothing. That’s lame. I don’t normally feel so put off by a match’s finish in the face of good action throughout (which this had in spades #nopunintended) but this one really got me salty. I hope at least that this leads to something interesting at Takeover War Games. ***½

Anywho, I watched the whole banger of a show, so here are quick hit reviews for the other matches:

  • Trish Stratus & Lita def. Mickey James & Alicia Fox – This was about as good as you can expect from two retired wrestlers and Alicia Fox. **½
  • Nia Jax won the Battle Royal – I was surprised they went through with such a lackluster concept but it turned into a pretty damn good battle royal. ***
  • Sasha Banks, Bayley & Natalya def. Liv Morgan, Ruby Riott & Sarah Logan – This was a little sloppy, but they snuck a bunch of fun spots into it, and the Riott Squad does some cool tag team stuff. ***¼
  • Becky Lynch def Charlotte – This was incredible. The only part I didn’t like was reusing the burial spot from the NXT LMS match a few months earlier. It also could have used a little blood. Otherwise mind-blowing match. ****½
  • Ronda Rousey def. Nikki Bella – The first half of this match was kinda doodie, but the second half told a nice story with Nikki only controlling when Rousey got distracted or overconfident. **¾
