NXT 452

June 6, 2018 – Winter Park, Florida

Shayna Baszler comes out to start the show. She has the title belt back, which is annoying because the show last week ended with Jesus Cross in possession of it. It’s not addressed. Baszler just tells Cross to stay out of her way, so of course Cross comes out and gets in her way. Cross dares her to come at her, scares her, and then attacks her. I don’t know how much I needed all the Dakota Kai nonsense to get to this, but I’m glad we’re here now.

Nick Miller & Shane Thorne def. Mike Hugely & Robbie Graham
I don’t review squashes, but TM61 won this one without cheating. They need heel music. N/A

Danny Burch def. Roderick Strong
The finish of this nutty little match was lame as hell, as Burch got distracted by a fight going on between all the usual suspects in this feud and was caught with a backbreaker. After the match, Pete Dunne attacks Strong, but Kyle O’Reilly takes out his leg. Seems that’s meant to take Dunne out of the picture come Takeover. **¾

Kassius Ohno and EC3 get into an argument during a photo shoot. They’ll fight next week.

Kairi Sane def. Lacey Evans
It’s the rubber match! It’s wild to me, having now watched almost every single episode of this show since the reboot in 2012, that there are entire angles that play out on TV and show no trace on the Takeover specials. People like Elias Samson and Liv Morgan has huge presences on this show and didn’t show up on those specials once. This was the most interesting match between the two from a story perspective, but from an action perspective it was more on par with their first match than their second. **¾

Tommaso Ciampa comes out to wrap up the show. He points out Johnny Gargano’s selfishness in the way that he interrupted a match he had nothing to do with just to make an announcement. That’s not a bad point. He warns Gargano not to show up in Chicago, lest he alienate his wife more. Gargano runs out and they brawl until Ciampa catches him with the GargaNo Escape. Gargano recovers and shoves Ciampa into the big screen, busting him open and then putting him in the GargaNo Escape on the ramp.
