Pete Dunne def. Roderick Strong {WWE United Kingdom Championship Match}
This was pretty goddamn insane, and I’m kind of surprised nobody talks about this match more. These guys took a minute to click, but once they did they tore it up in the ring. Dunne’s finger twisting is gnarly, and I like when it factors into a finish, which it did here. This is was a low key amazing match that featured some fantastic selling from Strong. ****

Velveteen Dream isn’t worried about his match against No Way Jose next week. He also name drops Tyler Bate for seemingly no reason. Did Bate mention him in his backstage promo last week? I honestly can’t remember, he might have.

Amsterdam Black comes to the ring, possibly to finish the promo he started months and months ago when Dream interrupted him. He wants a shot at the title. Killian Dain interrupts him, but at least he had the good sense to wait until Black said he wanted to be champion before coming out. Dain wants the title too. This promo was like a bad student horror film; dark, brooding, filled with lines that don’t make sense, and evocative of no reaction from anyone. I still think that the match could be good though. That tangentially reminds me, remember when Strong wanted a rematch with Lars Sullivan? What happened to that?

Nick Miller & Shane Thorne def. John Skyler & Andrew Duckworth
I don’t review squashes, but the Aussies looked good here. N/A

Shayna Baszler def. Ember Moon {NXT Women’s Championship Match}
I think I figured out what bugs me about Moon; she just seems like a dork. Granted, she’s an incredibly fit dork who is very talented at wrestling, but her persona is just not someone I buy as a winner. And whereas someone like Bayley’s gimmick was explicitly to be a dork, or someone like Kairi Sane is explicitly goofy, Moon’s is to be some kind of mystery woman but she just comes off as someone who is dorky and goofy on the DL and then cosplaying a mystery woman. Doesn’t fly with me. Also, this match was kicking all sorts of ass when it ended abruptly due to Sane storming out and attacking Baszler, drawing a DQ. I was really enjoying watching these two beat the crap out of each other for the few minutes they were able to do so. I can’t remember when Baszler ever antagonized Sane, so maybe Sane just didn’t like how brutal Baszler was being in this match? Guess we’ll see. ***

How would you like some more of Pete Dunne is defending his title? This time around it’s at FutureShock UnderGround #25, and it’s a match that WWE might have been paying very close attention to.

Pete Dunne def. Zack Gibson {WWE United Kingdom Championship Match}
These British indy promotions just don’t seem to enforce any rules. There are no count outs, we know that for sure, and in this match Dunne used a kicking child as a foreign object. It was funny, but it also takes me out of the thing. I’m very torn on this match. One the one hand, they worked very hard and absolutely brought the house down. On the other hand, all the finisher stealing and countering felt somehow rote, and nothing felt like it had any weight to it. Somehow it was simultaneously full of intensity but lacking drama. I’ll have to split the difference, and I’ll say that their matches later on the same year in the summer were better. ***
