NXT 426

December 20, 2017 – Winter Park, Florida

Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly def. Eric Young & Alexander Wolfe {NXT Tag Team Championship Match}
This was about as good as could be expected. I’m just glad that NXT is starting to get serious again about their crown jewel tag division after dud of a run from SAnitY. ***

Lars Sullivan def. Roderick Strong
Winner gets a spot in a 4-way number 1 contender’s match. If Sullivan can start having matches that don’t include an overlong bear hug then we’re going to be in store for some fun strongman matches. I liked this quite a bit, and Strong’s desperation and facial expressions really got Sullivan’s threat across. ***¼

Pete Dunne def. Tyler Bate {WWE United Kingdom Championship Match}
This was more on par with their first (very good) match than their second (outstanding) match. They couldn’t keep the crowd’s attention, and I think that’s because there was a bit of a disconnect between the engrossing abuse Dunne inflicted on Bate early on and the smash-mouth action later on. The fact that these guys are so young and so good though, I’m confident there will be an actual classic (as opposed to an internet knee-jerk classic) between them one day. ***¾
