Andrade Cien Almas def. Fabian Aichner
This was short, but Aichner controlled a lot of it. This dude may have beaten Johnny Gargano, but he’s still kind of an unknown and he should have gotten rolled here. At one point Nigel McGuinness says, “Let’s be honest, this is the NXT Champion.” It makes you realize that Almas really shouldn’t have needed Zelina Vega’s help with this one, especially since it’s his first match as champ. **
Akam & Rezar def. Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch
Please stop using the baldies this way! This could have been a dope match, as the first minute before Lorcan & Burch got squashed showed. N/A
Ember Moon def. Royce Da 5’7
This one only registered a 3 on the CES, so good for them on that. The rest of the match was actually pretty solid too, though at this point the Iconic Duo is out of juice. Time to call them up because there’s nothing left for them to do here. After the match, Billie Kay attacks Moon. Royce recovers WAY too quickly from the Eclipse and joins in until Jesus Cross makes the save. **¾
Amsterdam Black def. Adam Cole
Cole is 1-1-1 in singles matches now. This is why he should have just beaten Strong in their singles match a few weeks back. It didn’t even really make sense for him to be in this match, which earned Black a spot in the number one contender four-way. On the other hand he did win War Games. Nigel McGuinness starts the match by saying that Black is undefeated and Cole has had victory after victory. That just isn’t true about Cole and you can’t make it true by lying. I loved the finish here, with Cole getting frustrated, goading Black to hit him with the Black Mass, and getting knocked out. This was a lot of fun. I like this little mini tournament! ***½
