Ahhhhhh Mauro Ranallo is finally in NXT! My ears are so happy.
Velveteen Dream def. Ho Ho Lun
I don’t review squashes. This was Lun’s final match in NXT, or in any WWE ring for that matter. N/A
William Regal books the Authors of Pain vs. Heavy Machinery for the tag titles in two weeks.
Oney Lorcan nc. Hideo Itami
The match gets off to a false start, as Lorcan goes to town on Itami and busts his nose open, causing the referee to stop the thing. Well, it was fun for the few seconds it lasted. *
Hideo Itami def. Oney Lorcan
After a video package hyping next week’s title match, Itami and Lorcan comes back to the ring to fight some more. Sick. It’s a shame the time allotted to the two separate matches couldn’t have been combined into one, because these guys spent a few minutes just beating the piss out of each other. Maybe another time (probably not). After the match, Itami calls out Kassius Ohno. Before anything can happen between them, SAnitY attacks them. Nikki Cross stays in the ring and waits for her match to begin. **½
Asuka def. Nikki Cross {NXT Women’s Championship Last Woman Standing Match}
Okay, so they clearly put a lot of effort into this, and took some crazy bumps as well. The powerbomb on to the chair pile was particularly hard to watch because Asuka took such a nasty bump on the back of her head. That said, this was unfortunately the victim of LMS (I guess LWS in this case) setbacks. The crowd wasn’t engaged in the counting, and they were practically silent for the brawling around the arena. This stipulation can be done fantastically, but it’s not easy, and this didn’t really crack the code. But like I said, lots of points for the gnarly bumps they took here, and for Asuka’s fighting stance every time she barely made it back to her feet. ***½
