NXT 357

October 5, 2016 – Winter Park, Florida

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic begins!

Akam & Rezar def. Gurv Sihra & Harv Sihra {First Round Match}
Not much of an intro for the Bollywood Boys here. I don’t review squashes. N/A

Rich Swann def. Patrick Clark
Clark more or less debuts the Velveteen Dream gimmick here, but isn’t using the name yet. Swann got to show a lot of his stuff here, and Clark didn’t look like a slouch either. **¼

Peyton Royce def. Danielle Kamela
This was a crazy boring squash. N/A

Dan Matha comes out for a match. He legit looks like he has brain damage, and the amount of acne on his back should be a wellness violation in and of itself. Samoa Joe comes out and beats the crap out of him. Matha never appeared on NXT TV again (he did participate in the Greatest Royal Rumble). So I have to ask, what happened between announcing Matha’s debut and this?

Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson def. Andrade Cien Almas & Cedric Alexander {First Round Match}
This was fun. It wasn’t as mind-blowing as I thought it might be, but then I’m starting to come to terms with the fact that Almas didn’t get great until he turned here. Still, that finish, wherein Alexander avoided one Shatter Machine only to be hit by the move immediately afterward was awesome. And then my wish is granted as Almas turns on Alexander after the match. ***

This is such a weird time in NXT, as the roster got ransacked after WrestleMania, is still in the process of being rebuilt, and is currently littered with a bunch of future 205 Live wrestlers that won’t be sticking around.
