NXT 347

August 3, 2016 – Winter Park, Florida

Hideo Itami def. Sean Maluta
Itami looked good (aside from his gnarly scar) in his return, and Maluta got to show off a little flash as well. I like that the Cruiserweight Classic visitors have generic entrance music and graphics because most of them won’t be sticking around. WWE did this again the following year for the Mae Young Classic. **¼

The Revival weasels out of a title shot against Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano by begrudgingly agreeing to a non-title match against the Mighty. I’m not sure what it is about the way Dash Wilder talks but I can’t get enough of it.

Mojo Rawley nc. Chris Atkins
Samoa Joe runs out to attack both guys and ruins the match about 20 seconds in. Tom Phillips says the quiet part out loud, “The NXT Champion is attacking Atkins.” Yeah, Joe strikes me as a guy who digs on carbs. Joe starts going on an awesome rant, but Rawley does what you’d honestly expect every wrestler in his position to do and attacks Joe.

Asuka def. Aliyah
Asuka got to heel it up here, inviting Bayley to watch her destroy Aliyah at ringside and the beating the rookie up until Bayley felt compelled to get in the ring. Cool stuff, but I don’t review squashes. N/A

Bobby Roode comes out to the ring to cut his first promo. It’s long and boring but also interesting in that it starts as a babyface promo and descends into a ranting heel promo. The only issue I had with it was that it was long as hell.

Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson def. Nick Miller & Shane Thorne
This was really basic and honestly pretty disappointing. TM61 were the best tag team in Japan at one point? I’ve seen nothing special out of them at all. After the match, Gargano and Ciampa come out to ask again for a title shot. The Revival mocks them, so our heroes beat ‘em up. **¾
