NXT 292

August 19, 2015 – Winter Park, Florida

William Regal hosts Bayley and Sasha Banks in the ring for a contract signing. Bayley says that this title shot will be different than any match she’s had before. Banks says Bayley isn’t a threat like Charlotte and Becky Lynch. This drones on forever until Banks leaves and Bayley attacks her while she was on her way up the ramp. Weird babyface moment there, NXT.

Tyler Breeze def. Rob Ryzin
Just a squash, with a Jushin Liger match that Breeze brought to ringside looking on from the turnbuckle. After the match, Breeze puts the mask on an unconscious Ryzin and hits him with the Beauty Shot. It’s tough to build to a match when one of the competitors doesn’t show up ahead of time. N/A

Zack Ryder, Mojo Rawley, Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady def. Aaron Solo, Jesse Sorenson, Mr. 450 & Johnny Knockout
I don’t know that I’ve ever seen an eight-man tag match featuring an all-jobber team before. Solo keeps changing his name! This was a fun little showcase for the babyfaces, but I don’t review squashes. Turns out this was hype for a Takeover pre-show match where the future American Alpha and Revival will take on these teams. So weird to see the heel teams as allies given how that all shook out. N/A

Samoa Joe def. Steve Cutler
In order to hype Joe for his match with Baron Corbin, they have Joe squash a guy like Corbin does. Corbin is like wrestling herpes, just spreading what makes him bad to whatever he touches. He attacks Joe after the match. N/A

Bull Dempsey has a match on the Takeover pre-show, so we’ll see that and the 8-man tag next week.

Wesley Blake & Buddy Murphy def. Angelo Dawkins & Sawyer Fulton
Holy shit, I think this is the first time an episode of this show has exclusively been squashes. I mean, it’s a go-home show to the biggest Takeover they’ve ever done, so I sort of understand why it happened. Doesn’t make it okay, though. After the match, the Vaudevillains introduce everyone to their Alexa Bliss equalizer… Actually they introduce no one because Bliss slaps them twice and they just skulk away. So we’ll find out at Takeover. N/A

Kevin Owens comes out for a main event promo, carrying a ladder. He hates the fans and needs the title so he can prove he’s better than them and better than Finn Balor. Balor magically (demonically?) appears on the turnbuckle and then beats up Owens.
