NXT 252

December 4, 2014 – Winter Park, Florida

Charlotte def. Mia Yim
I don’t review squashes, but I’m glad NXT is expanding its women’s division with jobbers so people like Sasha Banks don’t have to lose five times in a row before getting slingshotted into a title feud. Speaking of which, Banks comes out to trash talk Charlotte. Bayley gets Charlotte’s back and it’s revealed that last week’s beating was to write her out due to injury. Banks attacks Bayley so Charlotte drags her into the ring, but a distraction from Becky Lynch leads to Banks coming out on top. Effective stuff there. N/A

Simon Gotch & Aiden English def. Wesley Blake & Buddy Murphy
Hey, that was pretty fun. This Murphy character might be pretty good, and the Vaudevillains keep me engaged for the first time in a while. **¼

Bull Dempsey def. Elias Samson
Dempsey wins in like 10 seconds. Then Baron Corbin comes out for his match right away in a reversal of last week.

Baron Corbin def. Steve Cutler
Corbin beats his nameless and faceless (seriously, the camera never showed his face and we only know his name because it’s on the WWE Network video timestamp) opponent even faster. N/A

Hideo Itami & Finn Balor def. Tyler Breeze & Tyson Kidd
There are no Americans the NXT main event scene. That’s fascinating to me. Breeze got roped into this because he was meant to have a rematch with Marcus Louis but the French loon went MIA. This was a little more basic than I was expecting from these guys, but I guess it makes sense given they weren’t headlining the show. After the match Balor essentially hypes that the demon is coming to Takeover. It’s good that Itami got the winning pin here because he was a non-factor in Baylor’s promo. ***

The show ends with an amazing Adrian Neville promo in which he acknowledges that he’s an opportunist because it’s important to win at all costs, but stops short of calling himself a cheater. He says Sami Zayn is too nice to be win when it counts and be champion. He won’t feel responsible if Zayn quits after he loses. Zayn takes offense. Neville tries to calm him down by expressing his respect and asking for a handshake. Zayn flips out and says this isn’t about respect, it’s about winning the title. He recognizes that by shaking Neville’s hand he’d be making the same mistake he always does, so he slaps Neville and storms off. This feud has been exceptional.
