Konnor & Viktor def. This Guy & That Guy
This is like a joke now, with the jobbers not even getting names. Do we need to keep seeing this to understand what’s going on with the Ascension? The answer is that we don’t, and I’m praying this stops after they lose the tag titles. N/A
William Regal is revealed to be the new NXT General Manager. He invites Adrian Neville out to the ring to announce who his opponent will be at Takeover, but before he can say who it is, he’s interrupted by Tyson Kidd, Tyler Breeze, and Sami Zayn. Neville gets a little cocky and says he wants to fight all three of them at the same time. Regal says that wasn’t his original idea, but he’s all for it. I’d love to know what his original idea was. Oh god, I’m realizing that it’s going to be all Jason Albert and no Regal on commentary from now on.
Bayley def. Sasha Banks
Like last week with Charlotte over Becky Lynch, we get a repeat win for Bayley over Banks because these are the only women on the roster now and I guess they’re afraid to keep jobbing out Alexa Bliss? This wasn’t much in the way of a match… and it was the fifth time Bayley has beaten Banks in a singles match on TV. After the match, Charlotte comes out to deliver some tough love, telling Bayley she’s too nice and needs to harden up or she’s going to get hurt. Bayley looks for a handshake but Charlotte walks out. The crowd was really into this. *½
Bull Dempsey def. Angelo Dawkins
Are these lunks getting assigned jobbers now? Dempsey already squashed Dawkins like 3 weeks ago! At least this time the commentators acknowledge it. This was rough, even by squash standards. Dempsey is not amazing. N/A
Tyler Breeze & Tyson Kidd def. Sami Zayn & Adrian Neville
This was solid stuff that had a cute, if narratively predictable finish. Gotta give them credit for having miscommunications happen on both teams. Zayn knocks out last-man-standing Kidd and closes out the show on top. ***
