NXT 221

May 15, 2014 – Winter Park, Florida

Konnor & Viktor def. Buddy Murphy & Elias Samson
William Regal says the quiet part out loud on commentary when he says that week after week the Ascension faces nobodies every week and that “it means nothing.” You wouldn’t guess it from this 45-second match, but both Murphy and Samson end up with pretty decent runs down the line. After the match, El Local and Kalisto challenge them for the titles. N/A

Charlotte def. Alexa Bliss [Semifinal Match]
Watching Charlotte stretch someone out is fun, she just has to get better and stringing those stretches together. Also the finisher is trash as the opponent has to get into a ridiculous position for her to hit it. **¾

Mojo Rawley def. Aiden English
Rawley can’t hang, and English isn’t a miracle worker..¾*

Colin Cassady def. Angelo Dawkins
Dawkins has a nice dropkick and can get a lot of elevation on it. That’s my only takeaway from this match. CJ Parker was protesting in the crowd, but it didn’t factor into anything. *½

Bo Dallas tries to get JBL to give him another title shot. JBL says if he beats his next opponent, he can have the shot. But since he’s not really in line for the title, if he loses he’s out of NXT forever. And his opponent is Big E.

Tyson Kidd def. Sami Zayn & Tyler Breeze [Triple Threat Number One Contender Match]
Zayn is so expressive and it’s wonderful. The finish here was a little weak, but was an otherwise strong main event with great action and hardly any triple threat idiosyncrasies. ***½
