NXT 184

August 28, 2013 – WInter Park, Florida

Tyler Breeze def. CJ Parker
It’s going to take me some time to get over seeing both of these guys as enhancement. If what you’re looking for is wrestlers really playing up their gimmicks, this was the match for you. Tony Dawson was too forgiving of Breeze’s cellphone use. **

Emma def. Summer Rae
Turns out Emma’s title shot can be used whenever Emma wants, so she’s going to take care of her issues with Rae first. I dig how Emma is diving headfirst into this submission specialist style, and Rae did her best to keep up. After the match, Rae pours Emma’s bubble juice into Emma’s eyes. Why even have the match if Rae is always going to go over after the fact. **½

Rae goes to leave the building when Sasha Banks accosts her for blinding Emma. Rae then pretty much brainwashes Banks (I assume) into being a more opportunistic wrestler.

Scott Dawson def. Enzo Amore
Enzo and Cass are babyfaces now, and I die a little inside. The match was going along as you’d expect when Alexander Rusev runs out and attacks Cass, distracting Amore and giving Dawson a much-needed win. Honestly, that was a relief. **

Sami Zayn comes out to be celebrated for his awesome match and says he wants to be NXT Champion. Weird Bo Dallas comes out to rightly say that just because people on the internet liked his match doesn’t mean he deserves a title shot, especially because he lost the match. These two had a match at SummerSlam Axxess (which we later find out actually was a title match) in which Zayn injured Dallas. Zayn points out that Dallas is a heel and the face/heel cosmos are finally aligned correctly. Zeb Coulter comes out and Joe Arpaios out an anti immigration promo before Jack Swagger attacks Zayn. This was awesome and paid off Dallas’s title reign to this point really nicely.

Adrian Neville def. Conor O’Brian
O’Brian looked really nervous here. Neville won with a 450 Splash. After the match the Ascension attacks, because babyfaces can never just win and have the moment in this company. The injured Corey Graves (the Ascension dropped some scaffolding on him last week) tries to save but gets beaten as well. It took NXT a long time to figure out what to do with their tag division. **¼
