January 2, 2013 – Winter Park, Florida
I guess that promo from the last show was legit as the show starts with the Shield beating up a couple no-names. Dusty Rhodes retaliates by putting Seth Rollins in a title match against Corey Graves.
Bo Dallas def. Epico
This was about as good as it needed to be and no better than that. I’m mostly just happy that they’re building Dallas with an actual program and not jobbers. After the match, Michael McGillicutty makes a jarring face turn by saving Dallas from the Colons. The B-Team is Born. **½
Tamina Snuka def. Sasha Banks
In only her second match, William Regal reveals that Banks is related to Snoop Dogg. And in her second match she shows again that she’s already got skills. I’d like to see her in a longer match. Snuka was alright too. **¼
Kassius Ohno & Leo Kruger def. Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel
Finally get to see the South Africans go head to head. This was pretty fun until that unsatisfying finish came out of nowhere. Is the feud over? I’d guess no but in NXT some go on forever and some are forgotten. I wonder which this will be! ***
Corey Graves def. Seth Rollins [NXT Championship Match]
For a heel vs. heel march this was actually solid as hell and got the crowd engaged. The finish, with the Shield interfering and drawing the disqualification, sucked, but I guess they wanted to protect Graves. ***¼
Dusty sends out the locker room to stop the Shield, but the men in black fight everyone off. Big E Langston joins Dusty on the ramp and the crowd loves it. The Shield bails, making Langston look like the biggest badass in the world. He gets a title shot next week. Good way to cap off the best episode of this show to date.
