Richie Steamboat def. Kassius Ohno
Ohno lost by DQ because of repeated eye pokes after a couple of minutes, which doesn’t really make any sense given the promos Ohno has been cutting the last few weeks. Then he beats up Steamboat after the match and nobody makes the save. I guess Jake Carter doesn’t know how to return a favor. Ricky Steamboat gets involved after the fact and confronts Ohno backstage later. *
Paige def. Audrey Marie
This was about as decent a women’s division match as you can expect when given less than five minutes. *½
Leo Kruger def. Percy Watson
So the deal here is that after losing in the Gold Rush tournament, Kruger took out a false tooth, changed his gimmick from pompous South African aristocracy to creepy South African poacher, and here we are with that genius idea. The match was actually better showcase for Watson than it was for Kruger, whose new finisher is lame and whose character transformation is too drastic to feel anything but cartoonish. ¾*
Brodus Clay def. Brian Collins
This was nothing. Brodus Clay sucked then and he sucks now. ½*
Connor O’Brian & Kenneth Cameron def. Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso
Cameron’s weird finisher aside, this was a solid, if kind of tragic, main event. You can thank the Usos for carrying the exciting portion of the match, but the Ascension held their own and kept their control segment relatively interesting. Color me pleasantly surprised. ***¼
The show ends with Seth Rollins essentially issuing an open challenge for his title. Nobody immediately responds.
