NXT 127

July 25, 2012 – Winter Park, Florida

Michael McGillicutty & Johnny Curtis def. Bo Dallas & Derrick Bateman
The finish kind of came out of nowhere here. I could have used a few more minutes of this, as it’s nice to see solid teams coalescing around the heel/face split. **½

Antonio Cesaro def. Alex Riley
The promo that set this up last week was cringey as all get out. I was surprised that Riley didn’t get to show off more here. I think Cesaro is one of the most underutilized wrestlers in WWE history, but Riley is a steady hand and they could have gotten more mileage out of this I think. **¼

Sofia def. Natalya
This was shaping up to be one of the better NXT matches since the reboot when Natalya deliberately got herself counted out and then attacked after the match. I hope this storyline is going somewhere because I’m pretty bummed that the match ended so abruptly. **¾

Connor O’Brian & Kenneth Cameron def. Dante Dash & Garret Dylan
This was how you do a tag team squash. Dylan was essentially frightened away from tagging in and Dash got blocked and slaughtered. If only all Ascension matches were this short. *

Drew McIntyre def. Seth Rollins
Drew is a big strong boy! This was the best match since McGillicutty vs. Tyson Kidd. McIntyre got to throw Rollins around and Rollins got to show off pretty much all of his signature stuff. More like this please and thank you. ***½
