NXT 111

April 4, 2012 – Orlando, Florida

Percy Watson def. Tyler Reks
This was a snooze. Neither guy has shown anything new in months. *½

Michael McGillicutty tries to get on Natalya’s good side, since they’re both third generation wrestlers. Natalya doesn’t want McGillicutty dragging the Harts into his feud with Tyson Kidd.

Natalya def. Kaitlyn
Tyson Kidd is on commentary, and says nothing unprofessional is going on between him and Natalya. This was pretty short, but Natalya helped to keep Kaitlyn from embarrassing herself. *½

Darren Young tries the Titus O’Neil method of picking up women; a cheesy pickup line and reservations at McDonald’s. He whispers “coconut tree” under his breath in the best moment of the segment. Also, she denies him.

Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso def. Titus O’Neil & Darren Young
Basic stuff here, which is good when O’Neil is involved. O’Neil blames Young for the loss because he was distracted by Tamina at ringside. *

Watson and Derrick Bateman console Kaitlyn for the loss. Maxine walks up and Bateman wants to talk to her about how stressed she’s been. Johnny Curtis runs up to tell Maxine that the kidnappers have told them to meet in the basement now. Then Kidd walks up. Bateman thinks he wants him to lose so that McGillicutty will earn a rematch with Kidd, but Kidd says he can always just beat up McGillicutty in the parking lot so there’s no need to take a dive. Later, Reks and Curt Hawkins reveal that they’re the kidnappers. They won’t stop blackmailing Maxine and Curtis unless they get Regal off their backs. The commentators acknowledge the segment, which begs the question how blackmail works when everyone sees everything that happens on TV every week.

Michael McGillicutty def. Derrick Bateman
This was mostly punchy-kicky, except when Bateman tried to add a few little flourishes. After the match, Kidd comes out to hype his rubber match with McGillicutty. *¾
