NXT 106

February 29, 2012 – Seattle, Washington

Darren Young & Titus O’Neil def. Percy Watson & Alex Riley
There was nothing happening here. Half the match was a Darren Young body scissors hold. *

Derrick Bateman thought he was coming out for a match against Heath Slater, but it’s really an in-ring intervention with Kaitlyn, Alicia Fox, and Justin Gabriel. They want him to break up with Maxine. They show a wild video about their relationship. Bateman doesn’t want to die alone. Kaitlyn lays a big one on him. Maxine runs out to fight with Kaitlyn. This was fun.

Michael McGillicutty def Tyson Kidd
Before the match, Natalya tried to make Kidd feel better about his lack of Hart blood. This was pretty solid, but ended pretty much out of nowhere. I’ve never liked that neckbreaker as a finisher for McGillicutty. **¼

Matt Striker comes out to celebrate the anniversary of NXT Redemption. Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins interrupt to draw this thing out longer. Striker anoints William Regal as the new NXT Redemption matchmaker. Regal books Reks and Hawkins into a match next week against opponents to be named later.

Kaitlyn def. Maxine
Curtis and Bateman are both on commentary during the match. Bateman on Curtis: “We were neutral allies and now he’s a hostile threat to me at all times. He also stole my girlfriend for two weeks.” I love this guy more than words. The match wasn’t embarrassing, but Maxine is bad in there. After the match, Maxine blows off Bateman and Curtis and hits on Regal. ¾*
