February 22, 2012 – Rockford, Illinois
Matt Striker starts the show, but is immediately interrupted by Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins. Tyson Kidd saves him, so he gets a match against Reks.
Tyson Kidd def. Tyler Reks
I mentioned last week that Kidd just needs a warm body in there with him to do his thing, but Reks is a more boring warm body than Hawkins is, so this wasn’t as fun as last week’s match. *¾
Derrick Bateman channels what we all love about him, popping off with random funny lines: “Why did I break up that wedding?” and “They say save the drama for your mama, but when my mama was here there was drama,” and then to Kaitlyn “You look good… as a friend.” Johnny Curtis pokes at Kaitlyn so she hits him in the junk.
Trent Barreta is injured, so that tag team with Kidd is off for a while. Michael McGillicutty interrupts Kidd’s romantic phone call with Barreta to complain about being at the arena but not being booked. Kidd tells him to chill. McGillicutty calls him a fake legacy. That’s true, but they’ll have a match because it upsets Kidd.
Titus O’Neil def. Alex Riley
This was all punches and kicks until O’Neil won with his feet on the ropes. Matt Striker comes on the screen and says he’ll have a huge announcement next week because it’s the one-year anniversary of NXT Redemption. *¼
