Dolph Ziggler def. Johnny Curtis
They really built up a fun little match here. The finish was a bit deflating, but it worked really well within the logic of the match. Curtis’s young-boy babyface style is a good time. **¾
Conor O’Brian def. Derrick Bateman
Kofi Kingston is subbing in for Daniel Bryan as Bateman’s pro. I don’t think these subs are necessary. Bateman has good babyface fire, but O’Brian is bad even in his rat form. *¾
Next up is the punching bag challenge. Josh Matthews says he’s bored, so we’re getting back to calling the show bad. Curtis wins the thing.
Byron Saxton def. Ted DiBiase
Matthews sort of suggests that Saxton and Chris Masters might be gay. To be fair to him, the show is not not suggesting that. He also craps on the match, which is boring and one-note. Brodus Clay interferes, getting DiBiase disqualified. Clay and DiBiase get into it and Maryse hits him after the match. Whatever. *
The show ends with a talent show. Todd Grisham makes another gay joke when Curtis dances. Michael Cole comes out to crap on the proceedings, which honestly I’m glad to see. It was important for them to be consistent once the show started being about men again. He also jokes about how Kaval, the winner of season 2, is already fired from WWE. That’s kind of insane, and makes me wonder why people continued to tune into a show that was proven meaningless. Anyway, Curtis wins and then everyone fights as the show ends.
